In New Zealand I”m really excited that I will cycle up the World’s steepest street.
Not only that I intend on carrying all my gear to try to make The Guinness Book Of Records for carrying the most weight up Baldwin Street Hill on a bike. Yup Guinness people said I would make in the record books if I filmed it with 25 kg of gear.I will add a reinforced chain. Yes this is what cyclists do like what climbers, surfers etc do…go for the biggest or steepest.
Baldwin Street, in Dunedin, New Zealand is the world’s steepest residential street, according to the Guinness. It’s so steep they had to replace the asphalt with concrete because on hot days the asphalt melted down the hill.
It is 350 meters or 1,150 ft long a slope of 1:5. That’s (19° or 35%). That is, for every 2.86 metres travelled horizontally, the elevation changes by 1 metre.
I am a Firefighter on a Global Circumnavigation by bicycle for Cancer Research.
